Description:
2 days full size marine chronometer in gimbal mahogany box. Dial signed 'Charles Frodham 84,Strand. LONDON N2891. integral balance, chronometer spring detent escapement, helical hairspring, chain and reversed fusee. Tablet on wooden box is made from silver (see photo) The chronometer run strong and keep good time. The Chronometer and box fine ed regrettably this big rarity in our country. The Gentlemen if you have a questions I with pleasure shall answer them. 150 years old Marine Chronometers are very hard to come by. Offered is an excellent emample of Maritime History. Taken from Tony Mercers Book... charles Frodsham was born in 1802 and died in 1852. He was the great gradson of the charles Frodsham one the the world most famous Chronometer Makers. This piece is in excellent condition, please see all the photos. The Chronometer keeps excellent time and has it's original detent. Notice the finely detailed plates, outstanding engraved dial, and gold hands. Beautiful Rosewood box . Working key-lock with stop hinges as well as campaign handles. THe Frodsham name has long been at the pinnacle of Chronometer Making, is a chance to own a piece of history, with a name that is sure not to go down in value, good luck..
