The Maritime Ship's Chain Fence has been removed from it's desert location. We spent hours digging it up and it now rests in our backyard awaiting a new home. Please buy it and take it back to the water's edge! According to our neighbors, fence was purchased by a Retired Navy man and placed around his retirement home that I now own. Exact age is unknown. The mobile home was purchased new in 1972, placed on the site and the fence was installed. Based on this history, the fence has been at the same location for 36 years. Our home records only show the Retired Navy man and one other owner of the home. It is a dandy of a fence. This fence is big, heavy and has stood up under earthquakes, rain and heat at temperatures above 115 degrees. I removed the fence for a driveway.Length: 78 ft. approx. [ the fence was placed along the front of the house and one side only].Height: poles were 3 ft. out of the ground and buried 3 ft. in the ground (6 ft. poles). Each pole is heavy - about 20-25 lbs. each. Each section of chain link weights about 40 lbs. each. I walked the property line again. If you wear a 7.5 shoe, walk 102 steps for figuring out what the fence covered. 5 steps for the gate with no fence. The 78 ft. is a bit short from my walking, but that is what my husband figured.
