Mark Twain's Letters From Honolulu Written For The Sacramento Union by Thomas Nickerson is signed "Aloha To The Philip Millers Thomas Nickerson". This 1939 edition, published by The Lakeside Press, was limited to 1,000 copies. An introduction was written by John W. Vanderhook. This hard cover book is covered in green cloth with illustrated label on front and spine. The book measures 8 1/8" X 5 5/8" X 5/8". It has 102 pages of text. The book has it's original glassine wrapper, which is now a bit ragged. The spine has some slight fading. The insides of the cover show some yellowing. A few of the back pages have dots of foxing at the top edges. The book is tightly bound, the pages are c risp , clear and readable. I am not an expert on rare books, just a lover of all books. About the book :"The Huck Finn of foreign correspondents provides a colorful account of old Honolulu, the island nobility, the City of Refuge on the Kona coast, and the active volcano of Kilauea. These selections of Mark Twain's newspaper dispatches are both charming and informative. The light touch of the great humorist is seldom missing as he reveals the 'loveliest fleet of islands that lie anchor in any ocean.'"--Container.
