Charles L. Webster, NY, 1892. A Very Good or better copy of the A state of the First Edition (end papers printed in faded olive-green with an all-over pattern of parsley-like leaves. No inserted portrait frontispiece), which is thought to be the earliest state. (See BAL 3435) The publisher's original cloth shows a mild publishing defect, reflecting some ridges that lie beneath the cloth and has minor handling soil. There is rather light edgewear. The hinges are uncracked. The book contains "The Private History of a Campaign That Failed," "The Invalid's Story," "Luck," "The Captain's Story," "A Curious Experience," "Mrs. McWilliams and the Lightning," and "Meisterschaft." The book is part of the Fiction, Fact, and Fancy Series. All in all, a nice copy.
