MARKING GAGE, PHILLIPS PATENT, DOUBLE FENCE, SCARCE & NICE This is a marking gauge patented by and perhaps manufactured by Russell Phillips of Gardiner, Maine on Jan. 15, 1867 #61248. This gauge has two fences mounted on either side of a Rosewood stalk. Each fence is cast brass with a brass thumb tightened screw. The Rosewood stalk is about 9 1/4" long and has "PATD JAN. 15. 1867" stamped on one side in small letters. These gages are frequently found in pretty poor condition, for some reason. This one is nice. Rosewood has no cracks, chips, breaks, etc and both brass fences are very nice. Marking points on both sides are good. In short, this is a nice gage that I have upgraded a few times. These gauges are not hard to find so you should only settle for a nice one. This one fits that bill. Nice, early and a little different. My E-Bay philosophy is simple, you are the customer and you decide how you want to handle the deal. I will go along with most anything as long as it is not too outrageous and you keep me informed. If it will be a few days before you get payment to me, no problem, just let me know so I will not worry about it being lost. I do not have any hard and fast time lines on what happens when. Normally I will get the package to the PO the day after I receive payment. If for some reason that will be delayed, I will let you know.As usual, you pay the shipping, insurance extra if desired. I personally recommend insurance if the item cost more than around $50, but you decide. On most items I sell, I try to estimate the postage cost by USPS Priority Mail (my shipping method) and include that up front so you know exactly what the cost of the item will be. I'm usually within a couple of dollars of the correct cost depending on your zip code. Unless it is too heavy or too large I ship everything, everyw by USPS priority mail. I always declare the value on international orders at the exact invoice price. Never any crazy handling fees or ridiculous reserves.PayPal, money orders or checks accepted. Please allow a few days for checks if it is an expensive item. On most items I ship right away. So far all (well, most) of my dealings have been with nice, honest people. (As I would expect) .I always leave feedback up front, right after you have paid. Some vendors never leave feedback first, they wait till you have left it, that way if you leave bad feedback they can retaliate. I have talked with E-bay about this problem but they always duck the issue. Anyway, I always leave feedback first because I know t will be no problem with my items (or on the rare occasion t is, I will immediately resolve the problem). My satisfaction policy is also very simple, you are the customer and you decide if you want the item. Satisfaction guaranteed, no exception. Purchase may be returned for any reason or no reason within a week in original condition for a full refund. If it is something I did or failed to do I will also refund the postage. If you just changed your mind or found another one down the street, cheaper or better. I still accept returns except you should pay the postage. Are you interested in Old Tools and Tool Collecting?
