This is a fantastic Martin Brothers "squashed pot". It is similar to one pictured on page 105 of Malcolm Haslam's book The Martin Brothers Potters. It has the same incised inscription "And the vessel that he made was marred in the hand of the potter. Jer.XVIII-4". It stands approximately 3 ½ inches tall and almost 4 and ½ inches at its widest point. On the bottom of the cup it is incised with 10-84, Martin Bro, London + Southall. It has a very tiny flake or chip at the underside of the top lip that is shown in the 4 th photo. It is only 1/8 of an inch small. The green Harriman Judd Collection sticker from the Sotheby's sale is still attached to the bottom of the cup and is in perfect condition. This is an unusual and fantastic piece of Martin Brothers. Please ask any questions you may have before bidding. Paypal , certified check or money order only. Shipping will be charged at actual cost and insurance will be required. Kentucky residents will pay 6% tax. Shipping will be by USPS Priority Mail or UPS.
