UNCANNY X-MEN OMNIBUS HC by Claremont, Cockrum, Byrne. I loved this book sooo much that i bought it when it came out! Unfortunately i also got this item for my birthday a week later!!! What is a man to do but sell the incredible contents of this hard copy to someone else? It is in near-mint and only slightly flipped through once! A perfect print and collection of the GIANT-SIZE X-MEN HC! From one comic book fan to another, this is something you can't miss out on! I will accept check, money order or Paypal. These runs define the book and the characters for years, perhaps even decades to come. Marvel's Uncanny X-Men had such a stroke of luck when Chris Claremont came on board. With Dave Cockrum and John Byrne at his side, Claremont not only revived a title from the brink of extinction, he propelled it to the top of Marvel's properties. The first (and we can hope not the last) Uncanny X-Men Omnibus takes readers on that journey, starting with Giant-Size X-Men #1 special and the following 30+ issues of the ongoing series. Reading this series not only clearly demonstrates the talent of all those involved, but also manages to illustrate in no uncertain terms what makes the X-Men so compelling. When Chris Claremont stepped on board X-Men it had just been authorized for fresh content. The series had not been selling well enough to justify new stories, and by some stroke of luck had not been outright cancelled. Launching with a 64-page special and moving (initially) into a bi-monthly schedule, Marvel wanted to prove to readers that these mutants were worth an investment. Giant-Size X-Men #1 rapidly established a number of characters. Older characters such as Professor Xavier, Cyclops, Sunfire and Banshee also returned to the title. Len Wein (writer of Giant as well as the plotter of the first two new issues of Uncanny), with artist Dave Cockrum, developed a new team and several new characters. Wolverine was introduced from the pages of The Incredible Hulk. New characters included Colossus, Nightcrawler, Storm and Thunderbird. Giant-Size represents a passing of the torch of sorts.
