Marx BLUEBIRD GARAGE Tin Litho Service Station L@@K! This is one of several tin buildings Marx made from the same stamping with different illustrations. Marx was big on using existing tooling for many different toys. This one is a service station called Bluebird Garage. It features a great looking deco style building mounted on a tin base. Also mounted on the vase are two tin gas pumps and a tin air pump (free air). The building has illustrations of workers in uniforms doing all the things one would expect form 1940s or 1050s service station employees to do, changing tires, washing cars, etc. On the back of the building t is a parts counter and ignition service counter both manned with staff in period clothes. These buildings may have been intended to be "go alongs" with train layouts or the like but I suspect the Louis Marx marketed these in any and all area that they could be deemed appropriate. We also have the Union Station version of this building listed in a separate auction on eBay. Te Union Station version seems more clearly dedicated to a train layout though it too could be used just about anyw ones imagination could take it. The condition is as shown in the pictures. T is missing paint and some areas of oxidation. The lithography that is present is vibrant, glossy and beautiful. If you are a collector of Marx toys, gasoline read more
