Marx DISNEYLAND EXPRESS Vintage Tin Train Set RARE
WE WILL POST MANY MORE PICTURES SOON... Commonly called Disneyland Express or Mickey Mouse Express, the Maxine Pinsky book on Marx toys (Greenberg's Guide to Marx Toys Volume 1) refers to this base and train set as "Walt Disney Train Set" and/or "Donald Duck R.R." - a couple of months ago this same set was listed on eBay as the Mickey Mouse Meteor set. By whatever name you choose to call it, this is a fabulous example of a Disney character tin toy! All your favorite Disney characters are represented , many more than once. T are illustrations of Dumbo, Mickey Mouse with Minnie Mouse and nephews, Donald Duck, Pluto, Goofy, Pinocchio with Jiminy Cricket, Snow White and the Seven Dwarves and many others. . Pinsky dates the toy circa 1950. The toy comes complete with 4 of the original 5 car wind-up train set with the fifth being the same car with different litho on it. The fifth car we are selling with the set has Marlines written on the side rather than pictures of Disney characters. Extra cars come up once in a while on eBay so this car could eventually be replaced should the winner wish to do so. Each car as well as the engine features many Disney favorite characters. This is a rare and one of the most sought after Disney /Marx tin toy featuring stunning illustrations of classic Disney characters. The tin base is quite large at 13 inches wide and 23 inches long. The train has many of the Disney gang pictured in the windows and has "Mickey Mouse Express" written on the boxcar. The train has a wind-up engine (or locomotive?) that still works. The wind up key is a square drive type and is included. T is some very minor scratching on the base as well a couple of minor dings. The condition of the base is beautiful. The base stamping is the same as is used for Marx Scenic Express, a version of Union Station (which we will list soon) as well as other channel track toys by Marx. This is a really beautiful piece of Disney memorabilia and very hard to find in any condition let alone in this excellent condition. The train cars are in fabulous condition. The engine has more scratching that the cars probably because it is the one piece that is handled in order to wind it up. Still t is nothing much wrong with any of the pieces. All of the condition "flaws" I have mentioned are quite insignificant and as such were very difficult to capture in the pictures. Nonetheless I have included many pictures so you can get a good idea of what all the parts look like and their condition. A very hard to find toy in good working order and known by many names, this is an exciting, must-have Disney character toy for the advanced collector. It is marked with the Marx Logo and also © Walt Disney Productions. Reserve price is very reasonable for this toy. If you are a collector of Marx or Disney Character toys, tin litho, mid-century and/or train/transportation toys, this is a great opportunity to add a beautiful example of a wonderful and hard to find Marx / Walt Disney tin toy with the original box to your collection.
