Offered for your consideration is this Marx Take-a-part fire truck, recast in Mexico in 1985. Originally produced by Marx in the U.S. around 1953, this toy was cast in solid cherry red and was sold in a cellophane bag with a richly illustrated cardboard flat. The insert showed all the pieces and how they fit together to make the truck. The original toy is super rare and very hotly sought after by collectors. Inch for inch, this has to be one of the most lavishly molded toys Marx made. You have to hold this toy in your hand to appreciate how detailed it is. This recast piece is even more rare than the original. In 1985 I encountered a dealer at the summer Chicago toy show who had 5 of these fire trucks and also 5 of the Take-a-part tow trucks. He stated the toys had just arrived from Mexico, and these were the only pieces he would be able to obtain. Since then, I have never seen another of these trucks for sale anywhere. Interestingly, 2 examples of this toy that came from the Marx tool room were cast in red and white like this toy, but the 50's version was made in all red. The prong that holds the hard suction hose at the front has been broken off and is missing. This is the way the truck came to me, and while it does not impact the appearance, I want to be clear about its condition. Otherwise, it is mint and still in the bag it read more
