A Mary Jane Peale 19th C Oil on Canvas (Mary Jane Peale, Pennsylvania,1826-1902, of the famous Peale family), signed and titled verso `The Sibyl Guido` and dated 1851. The painting after one by Guido Reni, the Italian Baroque painter, of the Persian Sibyl. Gilt framed, 20`h, 17`w. Note: The Persian Sibyl is one of twelve prophetic priestesses from Christian typography, presiding over the Apollonian Oracle and foretelling of the exploits of Alexander the Great. In need of restoration.
