Winston Churchill - In Memoriam Masonic Cover.... On May 13, 1965, the USPS issued an In Memoriam stamp to honor Winston Churchill within a year of his death. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover , an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Fulton, Mo.) on the first day of issue captioned above.The black & white cachet (artwork on the envelope) features Churchill's photo and Masonic symbols. The text reads, "Brother Sir Winston Churchill - Outstanding Leader of the 20th Century - Initiated - May 24, 1901 Studholme Lodge #1591 - London - Raised - March 25, 1902 Rosemary Lodge #2851 - Sponsored by Masonic Stamp Club of N.Y." Made an honorary American citizen on April 9, 1964, a year before he died, by President Lyndon Johnson, Winston Churchill is one of the few people other than a US President to be honored with an In Memoriam stamp. Historic, collectible, this is one of many items honoring famous people offered by Wall Art Collectibles .
