This is a rare Masonic ball fob. The ball is of classic construction with the outside heavily cased in 9KT gold over sterling silver. It is about 17MM in diameter and would be considered to be a ball of medium size. This ball was manufactured in England by J.H.W. who was the pre-eminent maker of these balls. This was probably manufactured between 1895 - 1910. The engraving is of very high quality and some of the original "gold wash" over the engraved silver remains. The overall condition of the ball itself is excellent with almost no visible signs of wear and hardly any corrosion. The ball itself is very tight and could be worn today with no repair or modification - it is just the right size for a neckpiece. I have attempted to use different camera settings to try and show the really excellent condition. Many Masons are not aware of the meaning of all of the engraved symbols - in the simplest terms they reflect the Masonic way of life and the learnings of a Master Mason. I will be happy to send information about the symbols to anyone who wishes to know more. This piece is from my collection that I must downsize. It is truly an excellent representation of one of Masonry's most beautiful jewels. Bid with confidence t is no reserve and a very realistic opening price.
