Apron:
Own a rare and unique piece of American History. Offered for your collection the last known remaining historic apron discovered in a forgotten trunk stored in the archives of the Knights Templar, Washington Commandery #1 in Washington, D.C. This item is unique following the decision of the Grand Master in 1872 to standardize the uniform dress of the Order. All commanderies in the U.S. were required to abandon the "black uniform" in favor of the "white", except for Washington Commandery #1 which was granted the sole exemption to continue wearing the "black" in its ritual and ceremonial practices. This is an actual Masonic Apron, NOT a reproduction, worn by men living and working in Washington, D.C. that likely hails from the mid-1800's that have gone on to become some of America's greatest leaders in politics, business, and law. Believed to have been produced by the Pettibone Brothers in Cincinnati, Ohio; it is black velvet with Masonic insignia, measuring 16 inches from top corner to corner and 14 inches from top center to bottom tip. Material and emblems show wear consistent with their age and are described as carefully as possible. Excellent condition, especially considering age of item. This item comes with a Certificate of Authenticity signed by the Commander and the Grand Commander of Knights Templar, Washington D.C. Dated 9/11/07. Sash: This Sash was found in the "forgotten trunk" along with the above Apron. It measures 70" long and 4.5" wide with a 1/2" border along both side edges. This item also comes with aCertificate of Authenticity signed by the Commander and the GrandCommander of Knights Templar, Washington D.C. Dated 9/11/07. These items belong in a museum. If you are a Knight Templar, this would be the ultimate centerpiece for your display case, either private or for your commandery! I guarantee a square deal from one Templar to another.
