MASSIVE 167 GR TAXCO 970 MEXICAN SILVER CLEOPATRA NECKLACE ANTONIO PINEDA DESIGN This is a breathtaking statement piece, executed in 970 silver, in the characteristic style of Antonio Pineda. In fact, this necklace is hallmarked with the Taxco designer's mark of "CMC TM-70", which has appeared with the Antonio Pineda crown on other pieces, so it's likely this designer was one of his master silversmiths. Composed of thirty seven chevron links, with a gorgeous mirror-like finish, the links are invisibly connected by a cable, and the closure is a tight and secure tongue in box. It's a very luxurious necklace, and one which will instantly command attention. Measures a closed, wearable length of 15 1/2", with a width of 15/16" in front and 5/8" at the rear. Weighs a very substantial 167.2 grams, or just under 6 ounces. Hallmarked with the maker's mark of "CMC", the Taxco registration mark "TM-70", and "Mexico 970". TM-70 is the registered mark for Telesforo Montenegro, as noted on page 269 of the Morrill/Berk book "Mexican Silver". 970 silver is 97% pure silver, as compared to 925 sterling silver, which is 92.5% pure silver.
