Massive Arts & Crafts Peite Point Needlepoint Tapestry

This massive peite point and needlepoint tapestry dates from the last quarter of the 19thC. It measures 25" X 35" and that does not take into account it's original frame. This is on it's original stretcher, and even retains it's original piano wire to hang it on the back. This is not under glass I doubt it ever was as it's remarkably even colored and does not have much fading which glass causes from time to time. T are missing stiches and t and some damage to the bottom left and right as if it got slightly wet once long ago, but the bulk of it, especially the important subject matter is without flaw. It's either French or English although my feelings lay towards English done in the French style. I have seen well documented patterns done in a similar style by both William and May Morris around 1880ish so i feel this may be English it certainly fit the colorways of the Arts and Crafts movement as well as into the movement being completely handmade. I sometimes find small scraps of arts and crafts needlework like this, but never ever such massive pieces. I hung it on the wall of my dining room which is from about 1915 for this photoshoot and it looked so riveting I may indeed keep it, I cannot hope to find another of this quality again in my lifetime. The subject matter of the Raj getting homage from a most grateful subject is tres charming don't you agree? Completely handmade and so well done as well! I did my best with my photos but the details are much sharper in real life. I always ship as soon as possible at least once a week. International shipping is not a problem.
