MASSIVE HEAVILY CARVED BLACK FOREST OAK GAME TABLE WITH BARLEY TWIST AND GATE LEGS Fresh to our extensive inventory is this highly unusual game table. This is a true 19 th Century Black Forest oak piece. When we encountered it we were staggered by its size. It is 62" wide and 28" tall! When folded as a game or console table it is 28" deep and 56" when opened to be used as a card, conference or dining table. This piece is 28" deep. This table has some very interesting and unique features. The barley twist legs on its back gate legs oppose each other and both spiral in opposite directions. The aesthetic affect is remarkable. This massive table is supported by twin gate legs so when it is fully extended it is surely braced. This piece is highly carved, having deep carvings in the table's edge bordering the entire table. Notable are the extremely fine carvings of what appear to by lyres and some type of crest, no doubt of the family who commissioned this piece, on the table's skirt. This interesting piece has undergone some very early restorations, which we have photographed for your inspection. Absolutely, a one of kind piece of furniture that would be well suited for an office furnishing, lobby foyer or a residence, provided you have a very large home! What a poker table this would make!
