This is likely one of the largest if not the largest piece of Harding Black pottery to ever hit the market. I am guessing it weighs 75-80lbs and it measures 22" wide and 16" tall. I could barely get my arms around It to get it out of my truck. The walls of the pot are over 2" thick. The glaze is volcanic with a wax resist pattern. There is a small firing crack on the lip and another on the side. These are original to the piece. There is no damage that I can find. The clay is a very hard high fire stones are. This piece is double signed. Harding Black 1961 on the side and Harding Black San Antonio Texas 1961 on the bottom. This would easily be the centerpiece of any Harding Black collection or any studio pottery collection. This will have to be packed and shipped by a professional shipper due to the size and weight or I can possibly deliver it for a charge within a reasonable distance of the Houston/ Galveston area. The museums with Blacks work do not even seem to have pieces on this scale.
