Massive Mission Oak Rocker Chair - Lifetime I am proud to offer this beautiful Massive Mission Oak Rocker Chair by Lifetime from the Stickley era. This rocker chair is the largest I have seen and is a little too big for me. It is in great condition with gorgeous wood grain and tiger stripes, has fresh leather cushions, and is extremely comfortable. Unique features include side slats next to seat cushion and a vertical crested board under each arm. A very nice looking touch. Standard features include all quarter oak, mortise and tenon joints, pins at front and at All back slats, corbels at arms, and thru tenons at front of arms. The size is Extra Large at 38" tall by 31" wide by 36" deep. The seat is huge at almost 23" wide by 25" deep. This is a beautiful near 100-year-old antique ready for your home for the next 100 years! Leather Cushions This Lifetime chair has beautiful soft leather cushions that cost over $450 to refinish. The color is a light khaki brown and is very soft to the touch. The double-sided back cushion is 3.5" thick and is tube lined around the sides and top and has a zipper along the bottom. The seat cushion is finished in a similar manner and is a very comfortable 6" thick and medium firmness. The newer leather has minimal wear and covers the original Lifetime seat that was built to be the Best. Crucible steel springs are supported on a steel bar frame that is attached to the wooden box frame. Covering this is a layer of felted hair to even out the pressure of the springs. Next comes a padding of high-grade cotton that fills out the edges and provides softness. Amongst their peers, Lifetime made some of the Best seats in the business. Truly built for a Lifetime. This chair is GUARANTEED Lifetime model no. 683 as shown on p. 9 of the Cloister Lifetime Catalog dated 1910 and as shown in the photos. LABELS 101 - I have researched this topic and have found some interesting information. T are only 3 types of labels - paper, decals, and burn-in marks. As expected, over 100 years, most paper labels are long gone. And Decals that have been applied to the surface of furniture can be removed during refinishing. Burn-in marks are the only true Permanent marks. Unfortunately, most manufactures used paper labels, some used applied decals, and only a few (eg, Limbert, late Stickley) used burn-in marks. Tfore, the vast Majority of all factory produced Mission era furniture is Unmarked and/or Unsigned. This should not detract from the overall value. Considering most Mission furniture is unmarked, how do we determine if the piece is actually as claimed? Based on phone calls to reputable Mission experts, their advice is to research manufacturer catalogs for information and to determine the maker. It was suggested that a person purchase the manufacturer catalogs before buying any pieces so they may become familiar and knowledgeable of what each piece might be. As stated above, the LIFETIME Cloister catalog (p.9) and dated 1910 was used as reference for this identification. IMPORTANT SHIPPING INFO I would like to answer the numerous requests to send this very special chair via Greyhound or similar service. I am afraid that I cannot. SAFETY of my antiques is the most important factor during shipping. and PACKAGING is the most important factor for ensuring Safety of the antique. ALL of my $1,000+ and 100-year-old antiques of this size are blanket-wrapped and packaged in custom-cut wooden crates (see photo) for Maximum strength and Safety during transportation across this country. I will not use anything else (eg, cardboard is a cover and popcorn is just filler - w is the Protection?). If anyone knows of a stronger enclosure, please let me know. Please understand I have recently had 2 other 100-year-...
