Massive Vintage York Stag-Handled German Bowie Knife!!

Offered for your consideration is a spectacular, massive stag-handled bowie knife from York Cutlery of Solingen, Germany. York was a smaller operation that was not around very long. They began in the mid 1950's and were an import operation. Every knife I've ever seen from them was made in Solingen, Germany. Their knives were always of excellent quality and are seldom encountered. Although they are very similar in design and quality to Edge brand and Edge Mark, I've always thought their knives were just a bit nicer, and I'm a big fan of both. While most Solingen companies offered knives that were very similar in design, and often even nearly exact copies of other firm's knives, York often added some unique design elements that made thier knives just different enough to set them apart from the standard Solingen fare. This example is no different. I have never seen this model or its sheath offered from any other firms. Edge Brand offered a similar design, but the blade and sheath were different, as was the blade etch. The knife has never been used, carried, or sharpened and remains in excellent, original condition. The massive carbon steel blade was beautifully done and is very thick. The blade etch is fantastic with excellent contrast. The blade is completely free of any corrosion or pitting with just some light surface corrosion on the tang as shown. The knife has never been cleaned or buffed and remains completely original. The guard is of thick brass as is the pommel. The guard is completely tight and free of any marring or damage. The stag handles are exceptionally thick and richly textured and colored. The stag was tightly secured with countersunk rivets and is free of any cracks or chips. The handle is completely tight and rock-solid. T is some slight discoloration on the stag w it was in contact with the sheath's retainer strap. This should clean off, but I haven't tried. The pommel was pinned and also remains completely tight. Knife has a 9-7/8" blade and measures just over 15-1/2" in overall length. This beast weighs in at nearly 1-1/2 pounds and really fills the hand. The leather sheath is the original and is very unique and colorful. It is in excellent condition with just light storage wear and some minor surface cracking on the straps. T are no cuts, tears, missing or loose stitching, or any other problems. If you enjoy large vintage bowies, this is a unique old knife that's just full of character. A super-nice vintage German bowie that's very unique, very large, and very different from the standard fare!!
