MAGNIFICENT AND ORIGINAL c. 1500 TRIPTYCH FOLLOWER OF HANS MEMLING This is an original Old Master Painting. It is offered for consideration starting at $1 and no reserve. : The work may be returned for any reason if you are not full satisfied with 7 days of receipt. The Painting: [OLD MASTER PAINTING] [TRIPTYCH] [Follower of Hans Memling] Hispano-Flemish triptych of the Annunciation with twolateral wings showing donors and angelic musicians. [s.d., s.l., painted c. 1500] Size approx. 75 x 61 cm. when closed. Painted by follower of Hans Memling; another attribution to consider would be to a member of the Osuna group or Michel Sittow's circle in Spain. A Portuguese master of the period is also a possibility. The central panel resembles a painting now in NY Met; the upper outer panels of musicians relate to two medallions on the lid of the St. Ursula Shrine,although these figures were also known in south-western Spanish ateliers run by Flemish painters or their Spanish pupils, such as the Spanish assistant to Hans Memling during the 1480s. (Cf. Barbara G. Lane, Hans Memling, Turnhout, 2009, pp. 95 ff. and p.98. ) The donor portraits are not found among Memling's work and may well have been original to this commission.
