BEAUTIFULLY FRAMED VICTORIAN (GERMAN/ITALIAN?) HAND PAINTED OVAL PORCELAIN PLAQUE Being offered for sale is this very charming antique Victorian unsigned hand painted and extremely well executed oval porcelain plaque of famous Flemish artist Van Dyck. It is likely a self portrait and by the looks, when he was very young. The painting isn't signed but should be since it is so masterfully done! The frame is gorgeous with its very fancy scroll work that appear to be hand carved and out of black walnut. The outside frame measures nearly 7" tall and is 6" at the widest. The oval porcelain is 3 ¼" bottom to top and from side to side it measures 2 3/8". The porcelain's back is marked on a stamp "Van Dyck" and has something above that I cannot read (see pic). The frame's condition is nearly mint with a nip missing at the top left side and it appears it has a little repair on the right side center, both difficult to see unless looking very closely. The porcelain is in mint condition with no chips, cracks, nor lost paint. Again this is an excellently and masterfully painting! I have tried my best to get some good close-ups of the facial features to show the wonderful detailing. If you are a collector of porcelain paintings as well as a lover of the old masters and specifically Van Dyck art, this would be a super addition to your collection. It would also be appealing to those that are lovers of high quality decorative art. Please check out the pictures and see for your self just how charming, beautiful, detailed, and desirable this gorgeous plaque of Van Dyck really is. While viewing the photos, please keep in mind the porcelain plaque's mint condition and the frames almost mint condition and its historical significances.
