You are bidding on a highly attractive and profusely decorated Islamic Hacking Short Sword, originally from Persia, dating to 1800 AD. Complete with belonging sheath. Highly adorned on both sides of the blade and handle, as well as the spine. Each side of the blade is adorned with foliage and Dogs chasing Gazelles. T are at least 4 animals on each side of the broad curved blade. T is a stylized Islamic inscription on each side of the blade. The blade is shaped like a typical robust cleaver; clearly used as a hacking short sword by the aggressor. Examples of the use of such hacking weapons abound in the Christian medieval literature, eg by the Ottomans against the Christians of Asia Minor in the early 19th century. The tip of the blade is curved upward with a stylized animal head incised on each side. The handle has three gazelles incised on each side and is partly made of bone. Length of Hacker in sheath: 13 1/2 inches. Intact, unrestored. Acquired from the collection of a Syrian doctor who lived for many years in Cambridge, UK. For a similar but inferior example see lot 3704 in auction number 54, Hermann Historica, Munich, Germany. Good luck with this historical masterpiece. This weapon is guaranteed antique as described. Shipping: USA $26; Europe $27; UK $15; ROW $36. DSC04366 DSC04367 DSC04368 DSC04369 DSC04370 Winning
