I will be listing a few select relics I have in my possession that i have picked up over my many travels across the himalayan terriroty- Bhutan, Tibet, Nepal and India! I can safely say all my pieces are genuine period items unlike the majority listed by other sellers as I have only a few and they were acquired not from antique stores in commercial districts but from local grassroots art dealers in very remote districts who were introduced to me by my dharma teachers!
This is another piece I have procured from my kind friend Janki Tsongmal, his family has been dealing in ONLY genuine antiques and relics of buddhist and hindu tradition for nearly 80 years now! they literaly are the walking bible of genuine antiques and period items! THESE ARE ONE OFF PIECES NOT CREATED OVER AND OVER AGAIN MAKING THEM NOTHING SHORT OF COLLECTORS WORK! This is apparent due to several reasons. 1) the superb om mani padme hum mantra above the lotus throne Tibetan Buddhists believe that saying the mantra (prayer), Om Mani Padme Hum , out loud or silently to oneself, invokes the powerful benevolent attention and blessings of Chenrezig, the embodiment of compassion. Viewing the written form of the mantra is said to have the same effect -- it is often carved into stones, like the one pictured above, and placed w people can see them. Spinning the written form of the mantra around in a Mani wheel (or prayer wheel) is also believed to give the same benefit as saying the mantra, and Mani wheels, small hand wheels and large wheels with millions of copies of the mantra inside, are found everyw in the lands influenced by Tibetan Buddhism. 2) the fact that on the lotus throne petals itself is engraved each of he 8 auspicious symbols ( a detailed explanation of each is given below) Right-coiled White Conch The white conch which coils to the right symbolises the deep, far-reaching and melodious sound of the Dharma teachings, which being appropriate to different natures, predispositions and aspirations of disciples, awakens them from the deep slumber of ignorance and urges them to accomplish their own and others' welfare. Precious Umbrella The precious umbrella symbolises the wholesome activity of preserving beings from illness, harmful forces, obstacles and so forth in this life and all kinds of temporary and enduring sufferings of the three lower realms, and the realms of men and gods in future lives. It also represents the enjoyment of a feast of benefit under its cool shade. Victory Banner The victory banner symbolises the victory of the activities of one's own and others body, speech and mind over obstacles and negativitities. It also stands for the complete victory of the Buddhist Doctrine over all harmful and pernicious forces. Golden Fish ...
