MAURY MUEHLEISEN Gingerbread Lp 1970 RARE FOLK PSYCH ARTIST: Maury Muehleisen TITLE: Gingerbread FORMAT: LP LABEL: Capitol ST-644 Lime Green Label YEAR: 1970 CONDITION: Cover: VG+ Vinyl: VG+ NOTES: Maury Muehleisen was an American-born musician, songwriter, and artist best known for his studio work, live accompaniment, and impact on the music of Jim Croce. His unassuming style and exquisite guitar skills were a perfect balance to Croce’s seemingly rough-hewn experiences, stage presence, and songwriting style. With Maury’s “Gingerbreadd” LP due to be released within a few months, it was then that, through a mutual friend, Muehleisen and Croce were introduced and developed an immediate and lasting rapport. With steady gigs and a growing fan base, Muehleisen invited Croce to back him up as a second guitarist at local Philadelphia-area venues just prior to the release of the “Gingerbreadd” album in November 1970 by Capitol Records. Maury dies in a plane crash, The pilot and all passengers were killed instantly at 10:45 PM EST on September 20, 1973, less than an hour after the end of their last concert. Early the following week, Muehleisen was interred in Trenton. Croce was also laid to rest in the Philadelphia area, even though he had recently relocated to San Diego. Family, friends, and fans were stunned to learn of the premature demise of two gifted, gentle, and unpretentious singer-songwriters, who were taken well before their time. Original Inner Sleeve. WE USE GOLDMINE STANDARDS FOR GRADING. COVER AND VINYL ARE VISUALLY GRADED Near Mint (NM or M-) a nearly perfect record. No obvious signs, of wear. Only signs of slight handling. Very Good Plus (VG+) Some signs of wear, slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect play. Label may have some ring wear, discoloration but barely noticeable. Cover may show slight wear such as lightly turned up corners & slight seam split. LP cover may have slight signs of wear. Very Good (VG) Many of the defects found in VG+ record will be more pronounced in a VG record. Groove wear will start to be noticeable. Labels may have writing, tape or stickers attached. The same will be true of sleeves or LP cover. Good(G), Good Plus (G+) Record will play without skipping, but will have surface noise , scratches and visible groove wear. Cover will have seam splits, especially at the bottom or on the spine. Tape, writing, ring wear will be evident. Payment must be received within 7 days of closing.
