This is The Larkin Idea published by Larkin Soap Co., Buffalo, N.Y., for May, 1906. It’s a 5” X 8 1/4” soft cover magazine, stapled binding, 32 pages; exceptionally clean and fine condition, with a soft vertical fold in the middle. The Art Nouveau bordered cover shows a cute little Edwardian girl wearing a battenburg lace dress, and showing her hands, with the caption: "Larkin Nail Enamel and Larkin Nail Powder will restore to your nails the delicate lustrous pink like that on mine." The magazine was mailed by subscription, with news, promotions, and advertising of interest to Larkin Club Secretaries and some customers. Aside from the Letters and regular features, this issue includes: Buffalo, Niagara, and Larkin Factories The Traveling Showrooms --schedule Floral Talk by Eben E. Rexford Larkin Sports and Recreation by Jamaica Ginger Also included in this issue: The Larkin chuirch-Aid Department Miss Marjoram's Magic Wand, by Harriet W. Durbin, a short story that incorporates the Larkin Idea The Larkin Kitchen Laboratory, 1 page, with suggested cooking ideas using Larkin products How to Use Larkin Colored Varnishes and Larkin Clear Varnish The Larkin Boys' Symposium, conducted by Boraxine The Larkin Club-of-Ten The Larkin Girls' Cozy-Corner Premium News: 3 pages of new premiums, illustrated in black and white, including Baseball Suit, Express Wagon, Chime Clock, Fern Dish, Stevens Little Scout Rifle #42, Material for Graduation Gown, Gold Music or Reception Chair, No. 64. Full page ads for Larkin products (all b&w) include: Mahogany-Finished Three-Piece Parlor Suite Stoves and Refrigerators for Summer Comfort Larkin Colored Varnish Dainty Summer Wear for Women (back cover) features: 2 white parasols and 2 white skirts Sprinkled trhoughout the magazine are smaller ads for Larkin Products as well.
