This is a stone MAYAN CALENDAR measuring a little over 11" in diameter. The stone is turquoise-colored and while I don't believe the material to be turquoise, it's possible that it is (it has a very turquoise-like texture). The carving is quite detailed and also has a descriptive legend on the back that tells the history of the calendar and explains the various symbols involved along with a hanger built-in for easy display. The piece is in great condition with no chips, cracks or breaks. It could use a little careful cleaning as some dust has settled in the crevices (likely making the piece a shade darker than it originally was meant to be). I purchased this in Mexico years ago and it has been carefully stored ever since.
