With good evidence of age and period use yet remaining in nice untouched and uncleaned condition with lots of it's original arsenal blue finish, this combination tool for the early Maynard cartridge gun will set in nicely as a companion accoutrement to the old percussion shoulder gun. Variations of combination tools were made for issue and use with specific make firearms with those Civil War vintage examples designed for other than the standard rifle musket becoming quite desirable. The Maynard was used by both Union and Confederate troops thus giving this scarce tool collector appeal on both sides of the Mason-Dixon.
