You are bidding on a very unique piece of Maytag glassware from the 1940's. This is a heavy glass square Cheese Preserver It measures, 51/2" square and is 31/2" high, it has no chips, cracks or flaws. The lid says " SANITARY CHEESE PRESERVER LIFT COVER DAILY LET AIR CIRCULATE. DIRECTIONS KEEP CHEESE IN FOIL, PARCHMENT OR WAXED PAPER. PUT PLAIN WATER IN BOTTOM. CHANGE TWICE WEEKLY. MAYTAG DAIRY FARMS NEWTON, OHIO." On the bottom is patent number 2419299. T are built in glass spacers on the inside bottom to keep the cheese above the water. This is a great find. I have only seen round ones. This is in excellent condition a great conversational piece. I accept pay pal, cash, cashiers check and money order. I ship worldwide and only USPS.
