This is a beautiful example of a rarely found 1920's stoneware piece. Good news: the green finish is clean, bright, and a beautiful shade. It has very little of the brownish "patina" that you often find on these green stoneware pieces. The pictures actually make the brown look darker than it is but I left them that way since they show how isolated the brownish tones are. Overall the color is one of the best I've ever seen in the green stoneware. T are no cracks, chips, or damage other than the following. The vase is 9 inches tall and 9 inches wide at the widest point. Bad news: well, I don't really know the story behind this but it looks like the bottom rim was ground down, possibly to overcome unevenness on the bottom? The bottom ring, which is usually rounded, is flattened and this exposed the middle underside which makes the piece wobble easily. I've tried to show the visual effect in the pictures - very minimal, I think. The vase sits straight with no problem but if it is on a shelf that moves as people walk by, it may wobble a bit.
