THE SEAMEN'S BANK FOR SAVINGS ORIGINAL, AUTHENTIC, JOLLY SAILOR COIN BANK by McCoy Including ORIGINAL, AUTHENTIC, HANDY QUARTER SAVER AND COUPON Up for auction is this truly great example of historical advertising! As an incentive for saving, the Seamen's Bank for Savings issued this cardboard folder they called the "Handy Quarter Saver." It accommodates $5.00 worth of quarters and, once presented to the bank with the coupon attached to it, the bearer would qualify to open a new savings account with the $5.00 and receive a free "Jolly Sailor Coin Bank." Coupon reads: "Let the Jolly Sailor help you save! Free! Jolly Sailor Coin Bank. Get yours when you open a new account with $5 or more. Use it to keep that account growing and earning high dividends." Handy Quarter Saver is in excellent, near-mint condition and is stored in a protective, archival-type sleeve. Jolly Sailor Coin Bank is by McCoy Pottery Co., circa 1967, and measures 5-1/2" tall by 5-1/4" wide at it's widest point. Coin slot is on the top of the sack the sailor is carrying. Bottom is lined with cork, stamped with the name of the bank, and includes the closure to keep coins secured inside. Bank is in excellent, near-mint condition with a beautiful, all-over shiny glaze.
