The specimen you are bidding on, McCracken (b) meteorite, weighs .6 grams and is 4 X 8 X 11 mm in size. It will come as pictured in a 38 mm membrane box along with a specimen / certificate of authenticity from the Kansas Meteorite Society. McCracken (b) (name pending), a single stone of 159.7 grams was found in a newly plowed field south and west of McCracken in Ness County Kansas. Was acquired by the Kansas Meteorite Society in 2005.The new meteorite was classified by Ted Bunch at Northern Arizona University as a lightly shocked H4 chondrite. Olivine Fa 17.5 orthoproxene, Fs 15.8 Wo 1.6 plagioclase. The information was sumitted to the nomenclature committee with a proposed name of McCracken (b).
