You are welcome ! _________________________________________________________________________ NWA 4561 Enstatite Chondrite You are bidding on a wonderful three side polished fragment of the NWA 4561, a very rare Enstatite Chondrite EL3, with a wheathering grade of W4 and a shock stage of S2. The slice shows a terrific network of metal filled shock veins. Size: 3 cm x 1.5 cm x 1 cm. Weight: 8.9 Grams Location: Found 2006, Erfoud, Marocco. Some basics about Enstatite Chondrites: The Enstatite Chondrites -the most reduced Chondrites- are characterized by an abundance of nearly pure Enstatite. This Chondrite class is considered the most primitive, and the other Chondrite classes having been derived by it from oxidation. Only about 70 Enstatite Chondrites are currently known. Most are EH3, EH4 and EL6 (Hutchinson (2004):"Meteorites - A petrological, chemical and isotopic synthesis). This is by far the rarest class of Chondrites ! The parent bodies of chondrites were small to medium sized asteroids that were never part of any body large enough to undergo melting and planetary differentiation. These bodies accreted shortly after the beginning of the Solar System's history, and so the Enstatite Chondrites are approximately 4.55 billion years old ! ShippingWe ship Worldwide Free !
