This is a one-of-a-kind MDC engine. This is the pre-production first hand sample that MDC made when they were looking to add a 2-8-0 Consolidation wheel arrangement to their family of Pennsy style Roundhouse Products locomotive kits. My description is rather lengthly. Please read it to find out about this special engine. As some of you may already known, MDC used their basic family of steam locomotive parts in as many ways as they could kind of like tinker toy pieces. Once they had their Pennsy style Boiler, Cab and Tender all made for their Pennsy Atlantic, they decided to put several different wheel arrangement engines together using these already existing parts. By coming up with a new frame , bottom cover plate and side rods, and possibly main rods, you could have a new wheel arrangement locomotive kit on the market. Of course you also would need a new instruction sheet and parts list... and photos to use in ads. The engine offered is just that. It is from the personal workshop of the former boss at MDC. It is not a production engine, with all diecast or plastic parts. the 2-8-0 mechanism parts that would later be produced by newly made tooling are instead machined from brass.
