The medal being offered is one of a number of medals given to the last Champion of the now forgotten sport of Indian Club Swinging, Mr. Richard J. Cox. It comes with a case. The case holding the medal measures 5 1/2" x 3 3/4". It is covered with a very dark green, textured leather. A "working" button-clasp holds the top and bottom articulating parts together. Inside, the top section is lined with a very dark green satin, a bit faded in spots from age. It says,"Tiffany and Co.,New York..." The bottom velvet part is in very good condition and holds the pinned medal. The medal, itself, shows' extremely well, it' s beautiful. It can be described as having 2 segments connected by 2 short chains. Both parts are probably gold-plated and the bottom part is partly enameled in color. The very top of the first or top segment is the frontal 1/2 of a spread-winged eagle in 3-D, 1 7/8" x 1/4". Below the eagle is a little rectangular plate with painted letters to say,"Police Gazette." Below that is a ball, possibly to simulate the world. The bottom 1/2 of the ball is draped with a banner that says,"Champion Club Swinger." The 2 short chains that attach to the banner, hold the larger 2" x 2 7/8" segment colored with red, white, blue and green enamel and saying,"Presented by the Police Gazette...Richard.K.Fox.Proprietor. It is very intricate and in very good condition with wreaths (losing gold plating), ribbons, shield and banners. It has a pin in the back and nothing more. The last of 4 pictures is provided to show the back. Both segments and chains, the total, measures about 5" long and appears in excellent condition. Buyer/Winner adds $15.00 to the cost of the item for shipping and handling. Can pay by Paypal or by personal check.
