On offer is a group of original, full-size, First World War medals to Four brothers from Silvertown, East London two of whom were killed in action The brothers were Edwin, Sidney, Walter and William Beardwell Edwin A. Beardwell British War Medal & Victory Medal These are correctly impressed 395125 PTE. E.A. BEARDWELL. 9-LOND. R. His Medal Index Card (copy supplied) confirms the medal entitlement and shows that he also served with the King’s Royal Rifle Corps (51731). Sidney John Beardwell Single Victory Medal This is correctly impressed T4-037668 DVR. S.J. BEARDWELL. A.S.C. His Medal Index Card (copy supplied) shows that he landed in France on the 15 th January 1915 and qualified for a 1914-15 Star trio. It also shows the award of a Silver War Badge. The Silver War Badge Roll (copy of entry supplied) shows that he enlisted on the 11 th December 1914, was discharged due sickness on the 5 th May 1916, and was awarded Badge # 64,715. Walter Anselm Beardwell 1914-15 Star trio The medals are correctly impressed 10150 PTE. W. BEARDWELL. HAMPS. R. Walter Anselm Beardwell was killed in action in Gallipoli on the 28 th August 1915, aged 35, whilst serving with the 10 th Battalion of the Hampshire Regiment.
