Don't forget, a beautiful antique shell cameo would make the ideal gift for that someone special in your life! This is a beautiful antique cameo! I just love the older, intricately detailed cameos! The wealth of detail on this piece is amazing, and the artistry is superb! This gorgeous cameo, handcarved of a single piece of banded onyx, is of very high quality! Italian in origin, it has been created in exquisite detail by a Master craftsman! The cameo depicts a lovely young woman carved in right profile. She is dressed in the style of Medieval times, in a rich, softly draped, "floaty" gown. The lady's long locks have been drawn away from her face, and are held in place with a wide band of ribbon. Her ruffled, stand-up collar looks like flower petals, framing her lovely face! She appears to be wearing a shawl of some sort around her shoulders and arms. This cameo has a unique quality to it - this beautiful lady is very lifelike - almost looks as though she's about to speak! The detail in this piece is amazing, from the individual curls in her hair, to the perfection of the tiny pleats in the bodice of her gown!
