This is a Medieval Mediterranean Terra Cotta Amphora Storage Vessel/Vase. It was probably done in the late middle ages in mainland Europe such as Spain or Portugal. It appears to have been used as a storage vessel for something acidic such as wine or olives. This Vessel was hand made and is not perfectly circular. It measures 22.5" high and is 13" in diameter at the widest point. The mouth is 7" in diameter and the bottom is 5" in diameter. It weighs 25lbs without packaging and has a crack at the mouth that is about 5" long going down the vessel. T is a design engraved into the Terra Cotta going all the way around the Amphora. It is 10 small lines going strait around the vessel and 8 small lines in a wavy pattern going all the way around the vessel. This vessel has flakes of paint all over it. I have spoken with a couple of different museums and they stated that it appears to have a picture of a "animal/critter" that was painting on it, but the paint has worn off. It needs to be professionally cleaned. I spoke with Howard Nowes Gallery in New York City regarding this vessel and sent him several photos. This has been viewed by a professional. T is a 14 day return policy. Buyer pays all shipping and handling charges. Shipping insurance is required. I accept paypal, postal money order, and western union money order. No checks. Payment
