A.E. Meek Steamer Trunk,Very Old, Very Interesting, Well-traveled Set a pieceof glass on top, and this can become a cool coffee table. Or stand it on end, and make it an accent table. The trunk is sturdy. It can support over 200 pounds. (I put my full weight on top of it.) As you can see in the photo, it’s reinforced with wood on the outside. It has a metal skin that’s painted dark green, or maybe black. There is also a decorative yellow stripe down the middle of the top and front. It was manufactured by A.E. Meek Trunk and Bag Company, Denver, Colorado. I don’t know when it was made, but the A.E. Meek label inside the trunk says that their Denver phone number is 1216. A magnet will stick to every piece of metal that you see on the outside of the trunk, including the latches, bumpers, skin, lock, name plate, and brassy-looking hinge pieces on the back. On the outside, there are a couple of remnants of the leather straps that once wrapped around the trunk. There is surface rust where paint has worn off, and many of the bumpers are dented. I have no key. The inside of the trunk is water stained. Size (approx): 33” long x 19” wide x 22” tall Weight: 46 lbs. Free pick-up in Friendswood, TX or in east-Houston. Thanks for looking!
