Don't forget to check out our eBay Description: Meerschaum Pipe from Turkey Large, 11.25" Long This fabulous pipe is in good condition, no chips, cracks, although it has been used. Includes a wonderful black case (leather, I believe) lined in burgandy velvet. The dragon piece measures 4" thick (across) and approx. 4" long, from top of head to tip of bottom. The entire Meerschaum piece measures approx. 8" long. Entire pipe, from tip of mouth piece to tip of beard measures approx. 11.25" long. The detailed carving on this piece is unbelievable. I'm adding a buy-it-now option for those collector's who don't want to wait for the auction to end. Enjoy!!! About Meerschaum Pipes: Meerschaum pipes are each uniquely carved by hand by Turkish artists. Carved from a soft stone called Meerschaum (which means Sea Foam) and mined only with in a five mile radius of Eskisehir. Actually it is a rare mineral - magnesium silicate. The best, pure block meerschaum is found in Turkey, in the area surrounding the village of Eskisehir. Some mines are open cast, and others may be as deep as 125 metres .
