BIG CHUNK OF GLASS STILL IN BASE and running down one side, VERY SHARP! CAREFUL! French in origin, recovered in a Lyon cellar, probably once contained Burgundy or Beaujolais wine. Black glass wine cylinder, applied banded lip, sheared mouth that was re-fired smooth with a few flakes/bites on the outside perimeter. Sloping shoulders, heavy whittling towards base, stretch marks in neck, dark amber-green in hue, a touch of old red wax still clinging on to mouth area. Some outside haze and minor scratching but not distracting. Dimensions: 30 cm high X 9 cm across base. USA BUYERS: To calculate INCHES, simply take the number of Centimetres and multiply by .39357. Unlike Anglo-Saxon countries w private individuals dumped garbage into privies or pits, the French only discarded broken items. They recycled EVERYTHING . It is common to clean out an old wine cellar today in France and find a 1930 vintage wine bottled in a glass cylinder pre-dating the vintage by 100 years. I have often seen this scenario. PAYMENT: I accept PAYPAL, checks (French) or cash sent by registered mail (very common practice, always arrives safely). Item is shipped once payment arrives. SHIPPING: WORLDWIDE, flat fee, regardless of destination: $15.00. *NOTE: I have recently cleaned out a cellar filled with 18 th & 19 th century cylinders; I will be listing many on eBay. Please view my other listings. COMBINED SHIPPING: Very simple: FLAT FEE, worldwide, whether you're in Houston, Hamburg, Honolulu, Haiti or Hanoi: 1 bottle = $15 3 bottles = $25 6 bottles = $40 12 bottles = $70 **The ambitious collector will contact me as I have another 30 or so bottles still wrapped in paper up in my attic which I can sell for an attractive price, shipped together for special savings. I recently fell upon a 65 year old woman from Lyon who cleaned out her great-grandmother's cellar about 30 years ago and is just now getting around to unloading boxes... Some items are common. However, about 75% are very early, very rustic and quite valuable. Trust me when I tell you, I've been living in France since 1997 and have witnessed a sharp decline in quality items readily found in flea markets or shops. They've all been claimed and the market is now seriously missing quality glass. I consider my find quite exceptional and worthy of consideration. They may not fetch huge prices today but give them ten years or so, when t truly is nothing left out t...These will have serious value. I can be reached using this site: At your service, Michael
