This exceptionally beautiful Japanese style demitasse cup and saucer set has the blue crossed swords mark of the incomparable German porcelain manufacturer Meissen. The mark appears on the reverse of both pieces along with the red overglaze pattern number 2506 (though on the cup, it may be 2500). On the saucer that number is followed by a blue underglaze vertical line and the red overglaze number 4. An impressed number that appears to be either 61 or 91 is on the saucer, along with an indistinct impressed mark. On the cup, the number 191 or 161 is very faintly present under the glaze; it's unclear if it is impressed or stamped. Both crossed swords back stamps have a double hash mark. Both pieces are in excellent condition with no chips, nicks, cracks, scratches, stains, wear or repairs. The cup is 2 1/2 inches in diameter and 1 3/8 inches tall. The saucer is 4 1/4 inches in diameter and 1 inch tall. This set is a wonderful example of Meissen quality and would make a great addition to any Meissen collection. Please check the photos carefully - they are part of the description.
