Cabinet plate with reticulated openwork, gold stencilling and handpainted flowers, birds and butterfly decoration. Made Meissen, Germany 19th century.
Measures 10 inches in diameter. Wavy border, richly gilded. The sloping sides of the plate are made with exceptionally fine openwork, partially in a lattice, partially in openwork floral decoration, intersperced with moulded and gilded shells and fans. The rim of the bowl has a very fine gold scrolling stencilled pattern, whithin which is a large boquet of flowers surrounded by 3 flitting birds and a butterfly. Birds in particular are beautifully detailed and painted. Bottom of plate is marked with blue crossed swords (no cancel marks) and various impressed numbers. Very good - mint condition. No chips/cracks/restoration of any sort. Please ask for extra 'photos, not shown here due to limit of 4 pictures.
