Meissen porcelain figural group depicting the figures of drunken Silenus on a donkey supported by his foster son Bacchus, the patron of grape-growing and wine in Greek mythology . Measures approximately 8-1/2" tall on an oval base 7-1/2" x 4-1/2". I believe this is the version created by Ernst August Leuteritz in the mid-1800s. T are areas of damage to be noted: left hand of maiden, handle on basket, end of scarf on maiden, staff on left hand of Bacchus, end of tail on donkey, flake off of baby's head, leaves/flowers in basket and from heads of Silenus and Bacchus. Most of this should be visible by carefully studying the photos. Because of the damage, I am selling "as is". Even with all of this, it is still a marvelous piece of old mid-19 th century Meissen . Item weighs 4 lbs, 3 oz. Add approximately 2 lbs for box and packaging materials to estimate a before-you-bid shipping cost from US zip code 22151 to your specific zip code/country by using the USPS website (). I will send you an eBay/PayPal-produced invoice within 24 hours of the auction close that will show the final shipping and insurance total. Buyer pays USPS Priority Mail shipping with full insurance. Insurance coverage must be for the full amount of the purchase. I charge no handling fees. You pay nothing for packing materials. I will ship within three business days of receipt of cleared funds or notify you of the reason for the delay. Shipping has gone up quite a bit and any item that must be shipped in a box larger than 12 inch square is considered oversized and subject to an additional surcharge. On multiple items, please assume that an oversized box will be needed unless the items are very small. I will combine multiple purchases into one shipping package w it makes sense and does not add risk of damage to the items. For international buyers, the full purchase price will be reflected on the customs form. Payment is accepted by PayPal, money order or personal check (US banks only). Residents of DC, Virginia or Maryland must pay sales tax. Most of the items that I sell are not new, but are vintage and from estates in my area. I do my best to photograph and describe condition as accurately as possible. Please email me with questions on any of the above.
