MEISSEN c 1915-1924 YELLOW COURT DRAGON DEMITASSE CUP & SAUCER SET IN THE ROYAL FLUTE SHAPE . These authentic Meissen demitasse cup and saucer sets ere stunning! This pattern and era are rare and are difficult to find. These sets are beautiful and hard to describe and the pictures do not capture it's true elegance! In the Royal flute shape, this awesome decoration is all hand painted. The rim edges are gilt. T are no chips, cracks, cracks, crazing or repairs and t is minimal to no gilt loss. T is a tiny dot on the inside of both cups that appears to be under the glaze. This dot also appears on several other cups of different Dragon colors/patterns as well as other items I own and appears to be a centering/reference dot to aide the artist . The cup measures about 2" x 2 5/8" and the saucer measures about 4 3/8" x 1". CIRCA: 1915 -1923. Date is estimated to be between 1915 -1923 (pre Max Adolph Pfeiffer (1924-1934)) when the pummels were not used consistently. Also Pfeiffer introduced slightly curved symmetrical blades which are used through today which are not apparent on these items. I use a couple of books and websites to aid in the dating of these items.
