A very moving account of the passing of a brave young soldier in the middle of WWI. It is in Loving Rememberance of 19 year old Rifleman Herbert Plant of The 16th King's Royal Rifle Corps who died of his injuries on 2nd May 1916. Consists of 1.A moving letter from a Catholic Chaplain who was beside his bed when he died and gave him Holy Communion. The Priest wrote the letter a month later to Gillie Plant, Herbert's Mother. (one page) 2. A Field Service Post Card from Herbert to his Mother which she received on 1st October 1916. (6 monthes after he died) saying "I am quite well, Letter follows at first opportunity". 3. A sepia photograph of his final resting place. On the reverse is written... "In loving rememberance of Dear Herbert who died of wounds at the 2nd Stationary Hospital Abberville France on June 2nd 1916 Age 19" Plot 3...Row G... Grave 14. 4. A photograph of Herbert in his uniform. (cut from a post card) 5. and finally the short memorial from The King for giving his life in the Great War. I find it incredibly moving and I feel humbled by these five pieces of WWI ephemera. Low starting price and no reserve.
