Welcome to Antiques & Moore! This week we are pleased to offer several items from my personal collection including four lovely Victorian Period pickle castors. This FABULOUS Victorian Period pickle castor measures 13" high with a base diameter of 4 1/2". The ornate silver-plated stand made by Meriden Silverplate Co. holds a gorgeous cranberry glass insert in a herringbone pattern. The stand has a bird's head hook to hold the tongs which are included and is elaborately decorated from every angle. The stand is marked on the base with the Meriden Company "logo" stamp as well as being stamped Quadruple Plate and #660. We do guarantee that this stand is OLD and not a reproduction! The lovely cranberry glass insert is nothing short of gorgeous and measures 4 3/4" high with a top diameter of 3 1/8". The cranberry insert is original and fits properly into the stand being held in place by four leaves that wrap snuggly around it's body. The entire pickle castor is in original condition showing only normal wear for a piece of this age. The silver could use a polish, however, it is in excellent condition and will polish well. T are no repairs or problem areas that I can find anyw on this gorgeous piece.
