Acquired today from local house sale a small but nifty assortment of coin savings banks, some from as early as 1890s. Please see my other listings for more from this terrific collection. Thia auction is for a metal oval bank from around 1900. It is black with copper colored stripes as shown. On front of the bank is a round metal plaque with the image of a colonial gentleman and around which it says: PUTNAM TRUST COMPANY GREENWICH CONNI tried to research this institution and found only that it was established late 1800s and operated through the 1930s. Bank is in very is good condition 3" high and 4 1/2" across x 2 1/4 deep.Signed on bottom MFD BY BANKERS SERVICE CORP NEW YORK PATENT NO 776792 PATENT NO 915679. Bank is numbered 1849. Slot on one side for bills and the other for coin.
