A METAL DETECTOR FIND WHICH I AM STARTING AT 99p WITH NO RESERVE.THIS IS A MOST UNUSUAL AND INTERESTING OLD SILVER RING COMPRISING OF A TRILOGY OF SHIELDS, SHOWING A RAISED CROSS, A HEART AND AN ANCHOR, WHICH I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY AN ANTIQUE JEWELLER ARE VERY ANCIENT SYMBOLS WHICH DENOTE FAITH, HOPE AND CHARITY. The head of the ring measures 19mms x 9mms. I have no idea of the date of this ring. The shank is marked 'STERLING SILVER ENGLAND'. At the centre back of the shank the silver is a slightly different colour.......which is either the place where the ring was originally joined when being made, or it could be a later repair? The ring was really dirty when it was found. I have carefully cleaned it up, but I decided not to have it polished as it is so characterful just the way it is! There are obviously surface scratches to the ring and the shank is slightly out of 'round'........but considering it was found under four inches of soil, near a footway alongside a river, it is in fairly decent condition. UK size Q which is a US size 8¼. An unusual and very interesting piece. I am starting the bidding at just 99p and because I have no idea what this ring will actually sell for, I will not accept any returns.
