UP FOR AUCTION IS THIS METAL JOINTED FOLK ART SANTA SHADOWDANCER HAND PAINTED ON ONE SIDE AND SIGNED AND DATED ON THE BACK BY THE ARTIST- "YOUNG '85".

He is approximately 18 3/4" tall.

Please notice the wonderful painting and details on this delightful jointed Shadowdancer Santa. From the holly on his hat, the toys in his sack, the intricate face details, on down to the gold trim on his boots, the painter (Young) carefully detailed this jointed tin Santa and signed the back "Young 85".......

He does not have his original"shadowdancers tag" which explains the history behind "shadowdancers"--primitive country toys which cast a shadow on the wall by the light of a kerosene lamp-

This shadowdancer was handmade in Angelica, New York.

..CONDITION IS VERY GOOD WITH LIGHT DUST FROM SITTING WITH LEGS DANGLING ON A GRAPEVINE WREATH HANGING IN MY ATTIC.

I purchased this great jointed shadowdancer in the 1980s at a craft fair in Pennsylvania.

I will be listing an Uncle Sam shadow dancer next and he does have his original tag which explains how itinerant tin menders originally made shadowdancers in the kerosene era.
